Technical Product Manager - Code Quality

Position description As Senior Product Manager for code quality, you’ll decide how 7 million developers find problems in their code as AI writes more of it. The gap is large: 96% of developers don’t fully trust AI-generated code, yet only 48% always check it before committing (Sonar State of Code, 2026). With the engineers who build our analyzers, you’ll shape what SonarQube detects across Cloud, Server and IDE, and how teams verify code written by agents.   The team: You will join the Code Quality product team, part of Sonar's Product Management group. Each Code Quality PM works with dedicated engineering squads and partners closely with UX, marketing and sales. We value collaboration, kindness and continuous improvement, and we base decisions on data and customer evidence. What will you own:  The strategy and roadmap to develop our language ecosystems, from market research and customer discovery to shipped rules and analyzers. Decisions on which new languages Sonar should support, and where we should not compete. New AI capabilities: how our analysis fits into the workflows of AI coding agents, and how quality gates apply to AI-generated code. Day-to-day trade-offs with analyzer engineers, such as rule precision versus noise, and analysis speed. Regular contact with developers and customers through calls, our community forum and conferences, and turning what you learn into roadmap decisions. What you will do You’ll enjoy this role if you care about well-crafted software and like owning a topic end to end.   Product vision and roadmap: research, clarify, and prioritize opportunities, and keep the roadmap effective Customer interaction: engage with users on the product forum, support them, and turn their feedback into opportunities Domain expertise: develop a deep understanding of code quality and how to help developers write more reliable, maintainable software Cross-team work: collaborate with other PMs on cross-product features, and align with engineering and UX from problem definition through development Experience and qualifications Must-haves 5+ years in technical roles, ideally including hands-on software development. 3+ years as a product manager on a technical or B2B software product, owning discovery, strategy and roadmap rather than only the backlog, preferably in an agile environment. Hands-on use of AI coding assistants or agents in your own work, and an informed view of how they are changing software development. Proven ability to lead a topic autonomously from start to finish, making pragmatic decisions amid change, complexity and uncertainty. Fluent written and spoken English. Nice to have Solid understanding of code quality in at least one programming language or ecosystem. Technical understanding of how code scanning and static analysis tools work. Experience in developer tools, or contributions to open-source tooling such as linters, compilers or IDE plugins. Experience speaking or writing for developer audiences.   If you meet most of the must-haves and this work interests you, we encourage you to apply even if your background doesn’t match every point. Benefits of Working with Sonar: We encourage usage of our robust time-off allocations with 27 PTO days for our employees based out of the Geneva region, plus additional days based on seniority and circumstances. We contribute 60% of the total cost for your pension; 13.5% to 15.5% of your base salary for savings; 2% for risk. Generous discretionary Company Growth Bonus, paid annually.   Commuting:Sustainable mobility options, including carpooling and the refund of 60% of the annual transportation subscription. This involves hands-on data exploration, hypothesis testing, and deep collaboration with Data and Analytics Engineers to architect the foundational models you require. Success is defined by analytical rigor and your ability to steer strategic product and Go-to-Market (GTM) decisions. Embedded in our central Data & Insights department, this role serves as a strategic partner to our Product organisation, driving cross-functional synergy with other departments, engineering, and data science teams to maximize overall success. Success depends on genuinely understanding the product you're analyzing, not just the data behind it. What you will do Understand product usage. Work closely with product managers (PMs), building a deep understanding of the product itself, to analyze how customers adopt and use it, and identify patterns in engagement, feature usage, and retention.to Analyze how customers adopt and use the product, and identify patterns in engagement, feature usage, and retention. Connect usage to outcomes. Link product usage data to customer and sales data to reveal how usage relates to expansion, churn risk, and account health. Define usage-based signals. Build the logic behind usage scoring, health indicators, and other metrics that translate behavior into insights that drive activation, retention, and expansion.  Be proactive. Explore product, sales, and customer data to surface findings nobody asked for. Anticipate the next question. Run experiments and validate. Test which usage signals actually predict outcomes, applying sound statistical methods and being honest about significance and causality. Partner on the data foundation. Work with Data and Analytics Engineers to get product and sales data into the warehouse and modeled well. Define requirements and contribute to data models that connect product usage with customer and sales data. Tell the story. Communicate insights clearly to stakeholders across the business, and document context, caveats, and decisions so the work survives handoffs. Experience and qualifications Deep product understanding and a track record of working effectively with PMs, translating product knowledge and usage data into decisions they act on.  Strong analytical track record: someone who has measurably influenced revenue, product, or GTM decisions through analysis, not just produced reports. Comfort with the latest AI tools, and a habit of using them to work faster and sharper: You stay current as the tooling evolves and bring new approaches to the team. Eagerness to develop: you actively grow your skills, seek feedback, and treat new tools and methods as opportunities rather than threats. Solid SQL. You can independently query, join, and explore data without waiting for someone to prepare it for you. Proficiency in Python for analysis, modeling, and automation. Experience with ML and statistical libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, statsmodels) for modeling, prediction, and inference. Statistical foundation: experimentation, significance testing, regression, segmentation, forecasting, and the judgment to know which applies. Working knowledge of how product usage connects to revenue: funnels, cohorts, retention, account health, and the realities of joining product usage data with CRM and sales data. Willingness to get hands-on with data modeling. You don't need to be a dbt expert, but you must be comfortable exploring messy data and partnering on (or building) the models you need rather than waiting for clean tables. Strong communication and stakeholder skills: you can challenge weak measurement respectfully and make a recommendation, not just present options. Proactivity and autonomy: you raise your hand early, plan your own work, and look for impact without being asked. In-office culture We're intentional about this. We believe the best teams are built in the room together. While Jira Service Management and the broader Atlassian suite form a core part of your platform footprint, your scope extends well beyond it: you will build and maintain integrations across our enterprise tool stack, engineer automation pipelines that eliminate manual work at scale, and operationalize AI-native capabilities (Enterprise Apps connectors, Claude MCP integrations, Rovo agents) that put Sonar ahead of the curve in AI-driven internal operations. Your success will directly enable every internal team at Sonar to work faster, smarter, and with less friction — and will give leadership real-time visibility, consistent governance, and a platform that scales effortlessly with the company's global growth. What you will do You are confident in owning and evolving a multi-platform internal technology ecosystem for a fast-growing, multi-site, multinational organization. You bring deep expertise in building AI-native systems and automations, and you are equally at home administering and evolving ITSM platforms — especially Atlassian — that anchor Sonar's internal operations. You bring proven, multi-year experience in: AI Systems & Agent Engineering (primary focus): Designing, building, and operationalizing AI-native capabilities across Sonar's internal stack — Claude MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations, custom Claude skills, Rovo agents, and Enterprise Apps connectors. You prototype on the frontier, then harden what works into reliable, governed production systems that internal teams depend on daily. ITSM Platform Ownership (JSM): Administering, configuring, and continuously evolving Jira Service Management — including service catalog design, SLA management, queue configuration, request type rationalization, and automated routing. You treat JSM as a product, not a ticket system. Atlassian Suite Administration: Managing the full Atlassian Cloud ecosystem (Jira Software, Confluence, JSM, Guard, Loom, Trello, Bitbucket) with deep expertise in governance, user access management, project templates, and platform health monitoring. Automation Engineering: Designing and implementing sophisticated workflow automations — using Atlassian Automation, REST APIs, and third-party middleware — that eliminate manual processes and scale operations without adding headcount. Enterprise Integration Architecture: Building and maintaining integrations between Atlassian and adjacent enterprise systems (Slack, HR platforms, identity providers, monitoring tools) using webhooks, APIs, and marketplace apps. CMDB & Asset Management: Owning JSM Assets configuration, data integrity, and lifecycle management across IT hardware, software licenses, and configuration items (CIs) — ensuring a reliable, audit-ready source of truth. ITSM Process Governance: Defining and enforcing ITIL-aligned processes including incident management, change management, problem management, and access management — translating business needs into governed, automated workflows. Security, Compliance & Audit Support: Ensuring platform configurations adhere to SonarSource's data protection, access control, and audit requirements. Supporting external audit engagements (KPMG, PwC) with documentation and evidence packages. Stakeholder Enablement: Partnering with all internal teams (HR, Finance, Legal, IT, Security, GTM) to identify automation opportunities, gather requirements, and deliver continuous improvements — acting as a true internal platform consultant. Platform Roadmap Contribution: Proactively identifying opportunities to modernize internal processes, adopt new platform capabilities, and drive the platform roadmap forward in partnership with the BizTech BackOffice lead Experience and qualifications Experience & Technical Acumen AI Engineering (Required): Hands-on experience with AI-native platforms and building on them — Claude/Anthropic, MCP, agent frameworks (Rovo or equivalent), connectors, and prompt-based workflows. You've built and shipped something real, not just experimented. Atlassian Platform Expertise (Required): 5+ years hands-on administration of Jira Service Management (JSM), Jira Software, and Confluence Cloud in enterprise, multi-team environments. Deep knowledge of JSM request types, workflows, SLAs, queues, automations, and service catalog design. Automation & Integration Engineering: Proven experience building workflow automations using Atlassian Automation and/or third-party tools. Comfortable with REST APIs, webhooks, and JSON for system integrations. Scripting experience (Python, Groovy, JavaScript) is a strong plus. Enterprise Tool Breadth: Experience with adjacent enterprise systems — identity providers (Okta, JumpCloud), collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom), or business systems (NetSuite, BambooHR, Salesforce) — is a strong differentiator. We don't need deep expertise in all of them, but curiosity and adaptability across the stack matters. CMDB / Asset Management: Experience configuring and maintaining a CMDB or IT asset management system (JSM Assets, ServiceNow CMDB, or equivalent). ITSM & ITIL Knowledge: Strong understanding of ITSM processes and ITIL v3/v4 frameworks — including incident, change, problem, and request management — with the ability to configure platform workflows that enforce these processes at scale. Security & Compliance Awareness: Understanding of IT General Controls (ITGC), access governance, and audit-readiness requirements. Experience supporting external audit engagements is a plus. Atlassian Certifications (Plus): ACP-620 (Jira Service Management), ACP-120 (Jira Administrator), or ACP-420 (Confluence Administrator) are highly valued. Leadership & Soft Skills Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities — you see patterns others miss and turn complexity into clean solutions. Highly autonomous and pragmatic: you make concrete progress in the face of ambiguity and imperfect information, without waiting for perfect requirements. Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize across competing demands and manage multiple concurrent initiatives. Self-confident enough to challenge the status quo — and to give and receive direct feedback in the service of continuous improvement. Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. Fluent in English, written and verbal. Collaborative by nature: you share information and ideas freely, and you understand that the best solutions emerge from collective thinking. Leadership mindset: you take ownership of initiatives end-to-end and drive them to completion with accountability and autonomy. Values "done" over "perfect" — while continuously looking for ways to improve processes and deliver measurable impact. In-office culture We're intentional about this. We believe the best teams are built in the room together. Three anchor days — Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays — create the collaboration rhythm that makes a hub office worth having.  Candidates need to be genuinely based in the location the role is posted  — if that's not where you are today, we're happy to support relocation for the right person.   We value diversity, equity, and inclusion At Sonar, we believe that our diversity is our strength.
